What Is Pollution?

Pollution is the presence in or introduction into the environment of a substance or thing that has harmful or poisonous effects. There are three types of pollution: Air pollution, Water pollution, and littering. Air pollution is when there are gases in the air that harm the birds flying. The most common kind of air pollution is smoke from factories. Another form of pollution is water pollution, which harms the plants and animals that live in the ocean. The final type of pollution is littering, which is now illegal in the United States. Many people throw plastic bottles and paper bags on the ground, unaware that it may harm the animals. Many places like zoos are bad places for animals because people are eating right by the habitats, and every once in a while, they may accidentally drop their food. This food can then harm the animals living in the habitat.
